Today we started the work later than usual. The visitors yesterday left our island first after nine o´clock in the evening and after we had rowed every guest back to the boat, it was already very late. We tried to heat the sauna but the wind was not suitable, so it didn´t work very well.
After our late breakfast we got vistitors again. The first ones just suddenly stayed infront of the lighthouse.
Two of these guests were far away from home; they come from Usa. Ture Eklund, one of the gentlemen, was born in Åland and was visiting the old homeland for the first time after seventy years!
Not long after the first visitors for the day left the island, the next ones arrived. Two lighthousevolontiers, Minna-Lotta and Lasse who spent a week at Märket in June, arrived with their sailingboat Nike, together with three boys: Alvar, Reidar and Jesper, and two dogs, Peggy Sue and Ansa. For the boys the visit to Märket was their first one, and specially Reidar had been looking forward to it, including swimming in Modersmagan. Emil got some very good practise for his Swedish and the Ålanders got to practise their Finnish a little, too. Eliisa made pancakes for the whole lot and together we sat out in the sun and chatted.
After pancakes the boys went and had a swim. Reidar and Alvar had to dry themselves on the warm rocks but it didn't seem to bother them. After swimming all the four boys started to warm the sauna together. Nice warm feeling growed not only in the sauna, but even inside the two mothers Angela and Minna-Lotta: here we have the next generation of lighthousevolontiers getting to know eachother!
As the boys were busy with the sauna, Eliisa continued to work with the wall in the first floor...
...and Angela started to prepair for the dinner. The dogs were enjoying themselves by sleeping in the sun.
Minna-Lotta tried to do the dishes but was not aloud so she had to save her eager to work untill next time she will come back as volontier. As the adults were busy with their own work, the boys got the sauna warm and suddenly there were saunawarm boys running on the cliffs to take another swim. But by dinnertime it was time for Nike to set sails and continue her voyage around Åland.
