Our first day at the lighthouse started with the sun. Retu woke up at 5.50 am. to do some birdwatching. As they say, early bird catches the worm...etc. Some of us slept until 8.00 a.m. Mika did some morning porridge and coffee and we tried to orientate us for today's working. Jussi was responsible for all the work that will be done and rest of us waited for commands. For us it was unexpected that there were so many mosquitos outside the lighthouse in the morning.
Meanwhile Pekka did some preparation, we started to heat the water for the dishes and Elisa and Kati started to scratch the old door for the painting.
Jussi and Harri started to clean the magazine building roof and they we're aware of the security issues while cleaning the roof.
Mika and Tuula were working in the kitchen and they did us some sausage soup for the lunch. The idea was to have a lunch outside the lighthouse at the balcony. Unfortunately it started to wind stronger and we had our lunch coffees in the kitchen inside the lighthouse.
Everyone had their own projects: Jussi and Pekka were on the roof, Kati and Elisa worked with the old door, Mika and Tuula took care of our meals and Retu and Harri did some wood chopping for the upcoming summer, as well as they did some heating for the lighthouse. In the afternoon we had some "poor knights" for the snack because our freezer was full of bread, at least for these first days.
The wind was getting stronger and stronger as the day turned into the afternoon and night. The door was finished from another side and people started to be ready for the evening meal and cleaning up on the Little Märket "shower-room".
