Today was the "rasping" day. Kati, Retu and Harri did the rasping in the ceiling and walls of the lighthouse keeper's house, with the help from professional painter Elisa. Elisa did some covering of the ceiling with plaster and it will take quite a while to get it dry.
As we noticed while rasping the ceiling, it was way too damp to rasp at the moment. Walls were drier, so it was more reasonable to rasp the walls at this point. While rasping it was needed to wear ear protectors, goggles and dust masks.
There were a lot of work to do at the magazine house's roof, too. Jussi and Pekka were working there for the whole day.
They did some pitch and cardboard removal from the roof and hopefully it will be ready by Wednesday.
The wind was getting stronger but they managed to do the day's work at the roof. While doing all the stuff, Harri also did some wood chopping before lunchtime. We had some fishsoup for lunch.
After lunch Harri and Retu started to restore the old window from the keeper's house on the 1st floor.
The door that was restored the day before wasn't dry yet, so we couldn't paint it from another side today. In the afternoon we had a special day and we had a cake and afternoon coffees in the lighthouse kitchen.
While doing our work we noticed some animals in the small rocky island next to us. First we thought they were seals but we noticed with our binoculars that they were eiders. So far we haven't succeed in finding any seals in our sight here in Märket, Hammarland.
