The morning was quite. On the breakfast we went through the duty list. Pekka had new ideas too, conserning the tourists´ safety. The tourist traffic has risen, which is a very nice thing. We are specially glad that the Åland Isles citizens have now found Märket.

Because there are new things to show behind the old magasine, like windmill and the new ”Strömsö” doors, the way back to the yard must be safer than before. Pera took the mission and Johanna and Jake as assistants. Soon they filled two holes in the cliff with concrete. Johanna got the idea to put a glass bottle with message and 20 cent coing in it into the concrete! Pera made a beautiful concrete cake using also stones in it. They made also a smaller concrete cake to avoid people falling on the cliff.

That not was all. After the lunch Pera planned a rope railing for the same route. Now it should be safe to visit the back of the magasine.

There were two weather forecasts for today. Mats´ was better, it said the wind would be around 15 ms from NE, and so it was. The other promised only 9-10 metres. The wind turbine turned continueusly to the helicopter possession, and still we had a overproduction of electricity on the cliff. Our big brother Tuomas was following our energy consumption from Tampere via internet. We got a permission from him to turn on the electric heater that Mr. Humell kindly borrowed us. For sure for the first time the lighthouse was today heated with wind power!

Pekka S finished the nearly three months long mission to put into pieces the huge firewood load that Subsea V brought from mainland Åland (top quality birch) in Easter. Now we should have firewood for at least two years! But on a stone like this one must always consume energy with care, not waisting it.

In the afternoon Pekka S took also the shitty job: he emptyed the biotoilet number one (the classic). Unfortenately the photoprapher was absent at that point so You must just use Your imagination about the view of the loaded wheelbarrow.

The lunch was modest but very delicious: Finnish and Swedish herring in different sauces with new cooked potatoes, cauliflower and broccoli. For the dinner we had homemade (by Jake) potato salad and B-class Finnish grill sausage. What a gourmet day, which certainly makes our economy boss smile!

The SE wind made bigger and bigger waves, which everybody wanted to photo. Pekka went even to sea to shoot photos of the waves with buildings. Trousers got wet for sure. A wind like this is great. You mostly hear only the wind. You have to shout Your pal to get Your message through. Everything dissappears in the sound of wind, You are alone with Your thoughts. That is on of the magic things with Märket.

After the afternoon tea Pera started to do some repairings in the shop which he did with Johanna and Eila. This was a really physical working day, there where no turists, the evening trip was cancelled because of the wind. Tomorrow they will arrive already in the evening, with a speacial guest. But that we will report tomorrow.

The working Märket heroes Eila, Jari, Johanna, Pekka S, Pekka V and Pera
