Lotta slept outside but she was forced to come inside, because early in the morning it started to rain. Breakfast was later than usually - it was the last day of the shift, so people wanted to clean up and pack before eating. Next shift was supposed to arrive with Mats at 9.45 am, but surprise surprise: they (we!) were already here at 9 am, thanks to Mats' faster boat Serena.

Old shift leaving
So, it was time to change lighthouse keepers (not entirely, because Tuomas, Lotta and Marcus stayed). Farewells were quick, and the new crew started to settle down.
Three of us four new arrivers were firsttimers, so it took us a while to even understand that we finally are here.
The new group walked around the island and the lighthouse premises with Tuomas. We learned new things - practices, history and habits, and we also got to know that there is a lot to decide by ourselves. Our first day was just that: getting to know things and settling down.
The evening was beautiful - warm and sunny, no wind.
We also got our first visitors quite soon. A group of Swedish men who celebrated one of the members birthday and a smaller group from Åland. The Swedish group actually spent quite a while with us.
Mikko, Tuomas and Marcus did some renovating during the day, Maria stepped right away into her role and cooked us tasty meals, Sari organized dishwashing and cleaned a bit in the yard, and Annukka chopped firewood.
Lotta heated the sauna - and to the sauna is where we are going right now. A great ending of the great day - and yes, especially we who are here first time are so so grateful and fascinated for being here.
Until tomorrow,
Annukka, Lotta, Maria, Sari, Marcus, Mikko and Thomas
