The day started peacefully. Pekka was back in the business to cook oat porridge in the morning, his favourite job on Märket. Even the visitors waked up early, and after the breakfast they were asking for work! No problem: Tuula was hired as cook, Timo went to make fire wood and Jari and Jouko took the duty of documenting the day´s work. Our own ladies went also make fire wood, their passion!



It was important to document what we were about to start to do: lift the wind mill. That was just a huge challenge, that it dominated the whole day. Lifting the wind mill was a quick decision: why to leave it to uncertain late summer or early autumn, when we now had here very skilled people for the job and good equipment.



At noon we had the turbin on the top of the 18 metres mast – but in horisontal position.



That was a good time to have pause and a delicious pasta and chicken lunch made by our visiting chef Paula. Back to work.



At 3 PM we had the propeller on the top of the mast. Only then started the most difficult task: linfting of the mast as Tuomas had planned it. And the plan was complete.

Grade by grade, centimeter by centimeter the the mast rose. The more it rose, the harder the wind got, and we were very nervous. When the mast was 45 degrees from the ground, we had to make new bases for the wires behind the harbour, which meant more work. But at the same time that made the lifting easier.



For two hours the mast stayed there in the 45 degrees position. Then around 7 PM it started to rose more. Tuomas, Marcus, Mikko, Klaus and Timo just went on. At the point of some 60 degrees came Mats boat with 11 tourists. Pekka took them for a Swedish guiding tour. The mast rose simultaneously. When they had there coffee at 8.30 PM the mast was in some 80 grades.



The tourist went at 9 PM. At 9.40 PM the mast was finally at vertical position! The group did it with great patience and in such a perfect co-oparation, that nothing unexpected happened. But it took still one hour to tighten the six wires that will keep the wind mill in its final position. There is still work to do with the electric details.





After long, hard day it was time to celebrate a little our big achievement, but be were too tired. Most had sauna, then some sandwich and to sleep at some 1 AM. What a day!
