What a day! It started out beautifully, calm, sunny and with the obligatory
power-porridge and some work, e.g. the welding of a chain to a tire for the
smaller northern landing point...

...painting of the border points...

...grooming for the grim onslaught of tourists awaiting us.

But that was about all the work we got done today! Shortly after 11 o'clock
the tourists came flooding in! The first couple, with their little daughter,
members of the Finnish Lighthouse Society, came not only to see the
lighthouse and give our Swedish speaking guide the chance to test his skills
on a small and forgiving audience...

.
..no, they also had the most beautiful surprise for us: home made blueberry
pie and whipped cream!!! It knocked our socks off, and even more clothes in
the case of Vesa.

A group of paddlers followed...

...then a sailing boat, which some of us had trouble spotting...

...while others again had problems rowing out to get the next guests from
their boat...

...followed by a large group of Swedes...

...and even some Germans!

The evening was topped off by a group brought to the island by Mats, though
there was still one group to come later in the evening. But as this is being
written, and the sauna is heated, there still is no sign of the last group.
So it's off to sauna with us now. You'll hear of the last group tomorrow.
All in all a hard but rewarding day, taking care of visitors to the
lighthouse! Though we did have a spot of free time there somewhere in
between, which Jake used to try to befriend the seals on the neighboring
island!

Let's see what tomorrow has waiting for us! Goodby for now!
