Once again a change of watch – and an easy one at that. Pasi is staying for two weeks, so only Hilkka left for home this time. And three new eager volunteers arrived, Soile and Henna are first timer's and Heikki here for his second time. But Pasi is a true veteran and he got the rest of us into speed as fast as possible.

After a quick farewell coffee the boat left and quickly vanished into the foggy morning and we stared with our own week.

A quick briefing on safety and security and then to work. The girls started with lunch and we guys with moving the firewood storage one flight up the stairs to a dryer place.

Lunch involved a thorough inventory of all the stuff we brought from the main islands and of all the stuff already at Märket. Now we know what we have to cook from for the upcoming week. Looks like hunger will not be an issue.

Moving the firewood means first of all clearing the future storage area of everything that was there. Odds and ends, old stuff that must be held on to and materiel that can be used for repair work on the island.

Among all the other stuff, we found a whatchamacallit. A really nice one and we think it almost works.

Our only problem is, that we have no idea what it is. We are adding a picture of it and hope someone out there could give us at least some hints. Please help. It would be more interesting to save, if we did know.

We all know that a stormy sea has the bad habit of removing all loose stuff from the island. This happens every winter. But it also can bring back lost stuff. Last winter it brought back a large piece of metal (probably the inside of a cauldron that rumor has it was lost two years ago). I took a picture of it with the lighthouse buildings in the background for you to enjoy.

Weather: foggy and dead calm in the morning but a nice brisk southernly breeze picked up during the day and the sun came out for at least some parts of the day. We are really hoping for a clear night as there will be a full moon tonight and we are hoping to get some good shots of it over the lighthouse.

So it is time to wash and get ready for the moonrise. Let's hope the clouds will not be in the way.
